Corneal Abrasion

So yesterday morning Dylan poked himself in the eye. (Talented huh) and he cried and complained about it and after some snuggling and eye drops he seemed to get over it. Well off and on for the rest of the day he kept randomly getting REALLY upset about it. So when Daddy got home I had Kyle sit on him so I could get a really good look. It was very irritated in there and just looking not pretty, so I called the doctors and we decided that I should take him to Urgent Care and not wait till the morning. Poor poor Deebs. He was so sad. He did not want to go and had a tantrum the entire way there. (its probably because the last time he went to the drs he got shots, and that is all he remembers about the drs office) So with some bribery of candy and crayons we got him calmed down enough to give him some numbing drops and apply some dye to his eye. It turned his eye this cool orange color and made the abrasion show up bright green. It also made his tears turn bright green. Pretty cool. I will have to look into getting some of that stuff for halloween.
Turns out he has a corneal abrasion. Poor guy. Apparently they are really painful. So he gets to wear an eye patch until this weekend, and we get to apply goop to his eye and dope him up a few times a day. He told me he wanted his patch off this morning and I needed to switch it out for a fresh one anyway, so I took it off. Corneal Abrasions are really sensitive to light, so as soon as that patch was off he quickly changed his mind and asked for another one.

Plum tuckered out after his long day. we got some cool speedracer stickers for his patch. They dont stay on too well though.

It should be against the law for his legs to look that long.

Here he is right after telling me he doesnt need a patch. So I took the patch off.

Here he is with a new patch. So much happier.

Poor kid. Agreed, his legs look too long. That's not a toddler, that's a kid. A kid who looks like Dad. Weird.

Poor kiddo! Looks like he handled it like a champ. Most likely better than I would. Hope it heals up nicely soon!
