Pinewood Derby

Last year I wasn’t able to go to the pinewood derby because Tyler had pneumonia. So I was excited to go to this year’s derby. Andrew and Kyle have been working on the car for a week or two now. Kyle was great and helped him cut, sand and paint it. My only contribution was cutting out some stars on the silhouette. (Oh how I love that thing!) Out of the Ten boys, Andrew’s car came in 3rd. Way to go Drew! He was SO PROUD! Tyler was quite upset that he didnt get to race a “dirty car” and Kate was quite upset that she didnt get a trophy too (Life is so hard!) I really like how this ward did it. They set things up so they just called out the number of the scout whos turn it was and they ran up, raced then the winner was recorded into the computer. Nobody had to wait long for their turn and there was hardly any downtime.
Kyle brought a car that he and drew made last year, and One of the guys from church brought his fancy cars in too (he works at Nike too and has access to a fancy pants carving machine thingy.) I seriously think that there needs to be a derby for all the “big boys” at church too since they seem to get as big of a kick out of it as the boys do.
